Interested in replacing missing teeth with a personalized prosthetic? Silverstone Dental offers a range of partials and dentures to suit your individual requirement
Dentures are detachable false teeth that can replace natural teeth as well as surrounding gum tissue. Dentures come in two types: Full set dentures and partials. As the name suggests, full dentures are used to replace a full set of missing teeth while partials replace a few missing teeth.
Partials are ideal for those patients who still have natural teeth left. Let’s take a closer look at both types of dentures.
Complete or full dentures can be either ‘immediate’ or ‘conventional’. At times, the dentist may suggest removing the remaining teeth and replace them with a full denture. Once the extractions are over, the patient may need to wait until the gum tissue has healed.
Complete dentures usually take about 8-12 weeks to fabricate. Once they’re ready, the dentist will request you to try them at the clinic as well as at home. The dentist will make any adjustments (tightening or loosening, and so on) to ensure maximum comfort. It may take a few days to get used to wearing new dentures.
These are a set of artificial teeth set on a gum-colored plastic base which may be secured to either a plastic base or metal framework to hold it in place. Partials are like fixed bridges with crowns on either side of the gap.
Not only do partials fill in unsightly gaps in the dental arch, but they also prevent other teeth from drifting from their positions. Partials are usually fabricated with inner attachments rather than clasps to help secure it to the adjacent teeth. This gives a more natural look overall.
