Veneers in Richmond, TX

It’s rare for teeth to be naturally perfect – the right shape, whiteness, and alignment. Everyone has some imperfections in their smile. If you have minor cosmetic issues that you’d like to get addressed in order to improve the appearance of your smile, dental veneers might be the treatment for you. You can find this versatile treatment at Silverstone Dental in Richmond, TX.

What are Veneers?

Veneers are very thin shells that are custom-fit to be attached to the front of the teeth. They are placed to change the appearance of the teeth, fixing issues like alignment and staining. Veneers can be made from porcelain or composite resin.

What Can Veneers Treat?

Veneers are a popular choice in cosmetic dentistry because they are effective but fairly affordable, and they can be used to address several cosmetic issues. Veneers can treat:

  • Chipped, worn, or broken teeth
  • Discolorations/staining
  • Teeth that are smaller than average
  • Misalignments or gaps in teeth

How are Veneers Placed?

The procedure to place veneers is similar to that of placing dental crowns. The benefit of using veneers is that less of the tooth structure needs to be removed, so you can retain more of the natural tooth. Two visits to our dental office near you in Richmond, TX will be needed to have veneers successfully placed. First, your dentist at Silverstone Dental will prepare the tooth by shaving down a small portion of the enamel. It is not an invasive procedure, but a local anesthetic may be used for this visit to minimize any discomfort. Once the tooth is the right shape for a veneer, your dentist will make an impression of it. The veneers are made by a dental laboratory using this impression. Temporary veneers may be placed on the prepared teeth to keep them protected until the permanent veneers are placed.

During your second appointment at Silverstone Dental, once the veneers have returned from the dental lab, your dentist will remove the temporary veneers and bond the permanent veneers into place. They will be trimmed and adjusted as needed so that they fit properly and comfortably with the bite of your teeth.
